Is it ridiculous to think that at thirty one, I might know the secret to life? Of course it is. It’s not ridiculous however, to think that I have found the secret to my life. The reason Laura and I started Sunshine Tienda was because we both uncovered a lifestyle what we connected with and navigated our efforts towards what made us feel right in the head.
Everything our shop represents came from experiences we have had while traveling, breathing in the simple air of vacation and getting our brains back to neutral. Preaching our mission of sharing the goods of the world with you all has reminded us to lean into this approach of vacation living while our feet are firmly planted in a world of non-vacay…(at least for now!). Take it or leave it, but a few simple ways I keep my brain in vacation mode…
Say thanks, every single day. No matter your current circumstance, you are alive and get the privilege to wake up tomorrow.
Simplify your life. Although difficult at first, something that empowers an explorer is their ability to drop their stuff and travel the world. Your priorities become clear when you remove the excess.
Socialize with strangers. I leave vacation with a dozen new pen pals. Translate that to your everyday life. Why do we talk to strangers in Costa Rica, but we refuse to even make eye contact with our fellow grocery shoppers? Did you meet someone new today? Let’s co-exist and be buds, y’all!
Say yes. The hardest, but most important on this list. Stop making excuses and find your opportunities to say yes.
My challenge to you for today, just today, is to try some of these. Imagine the places you could go, right here at home.
