A Husband and Wife Wander the Map

Introducing the husband and wife team behind Wander the Map!  Learn all about their adventures in our Sunny Interview!

Please tell us about yourself and what stoked your desire to begin traveling.

I’ve been traveling with my family since I was young and always loved it.  So, when I had the opportunity to go overseas for a study abroad course in college, I jumped at the chance, and it fueled my desire to travel even more!

Where have you been and what do you enjoy most about the various cultures you have encountered on your travels?

As of now, we’ve mainly traveled around the United States, Caribbean and Europe, and we will be adding Asia to that list very soon as we are heading to Japan! We always enjoy meeting people wherever we go—it’s one of our favorite aspects of traveling and provides a great look into cultures around the world.

What do you find is most rewarding about traveling?

I think the most rewarding aspect about travel is that it gives you the ability to learn from your experiences and it opens your eyes to cultures other than your own.  Plus, seeing a destination firsthand puts a new perspective on what you may have studied in school or read about in a book—it really brings a place to life.

Do you have a favorite sunny destination and if so where and why?

Curacao is one of our favorite sunny destinations. We loved the adventure and the culture on the island—from hiking to diving and cliff jumping, there are endless adventures to be found.

 Tell us about your blog/website!

I started the travel website, Wander The Map, with my husband Micah, and we focus on adventure travel, both in the city and out in nature.  In addition to writing, we focus on making photographs and videos when we are out exploring the world, and we love sharing our stories with our readers. Some of our favorite adventures have been glacier hiking, ice climbing and white water canoeing in Iceland, participating in a sea turtle hatchling release program in Florida, floating in a hot air balloon, ziplining and fnding a place to hike almost everywhere we go.  We are currently based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, but since we both have flexible schedules, we travel as much as possible, both close to home and around the world!

Follow along wander the map on their next adventure!
