What makes San Antonio special to you?

The blend of cultures - SA is very influenced by Hispanic culture - it makes it so vibrant and full of life, color, zest, joie de vivre.

What are your go-to lunch spots in San Antonio?

Cappy’s, Little Em’s (cheeseburger, omg we could write a whole section on cheeseburgers), Soluna (Mexican), Josephine Street, Down on Grayson.

Favorite dinner restaurants?

PharmTable, Mon Chou Chou, Rebelle, Bliss, Barn Door, La Fonda on Main, Tre Trattoria, Liberty Bar.

What are your top hotel recommendations?

Emma, check out @sanantonioriverhouse on instagram - it’s Margaret’s airbnb on the SA River by Mission San Juan also her family ranch Poco A Poco in the Hill Country (shameless plug), Hotel Havana, Ranch Motel & Leisure Club.

Favorite local boutiques, vintage stores, etc.?

Julian Gold, Curio at Hotel Emma both carry Fraulein. We also love Penny Lane, Meadow, Moss, Tiny Finch, Lee Lee, Rancho Diaz Antiques, check out shops near Blanco Cafe (and eat there) and the BEST Period Modern, Kim Wolfe Studio, Courtney and Company Interiors (by appointment only) by the Pearl.

What are your can’t-miss recommendations for friends visiting from out of town?

You MUST go visit the Missions, not just the Alamo - all 5 missions and check out the SA River Foundation artist portals by each mission. Our favorite is the Arbor de Vida by Mission Espada by Margarita Cabrera - it is worth driving to San Antonio to see. Must go visit the Historic Pearl - it is a love letter to SA - we are so proud of this beautiful area - pop in and see our boots at Curio inside Hotel Emma, great place to walk along the riverwalk a non-touristy section.

A touristy attraction that you’d actually suggest?

The Mercado - it’s just like shopping in Mexico - and seriously the food at Mi Tierra is delicious.

Favorite activities for an ideal day in the sun?

Rent kayaks on river on the mission reach, ride bikes to all the missions (each mission has a bike rental station), McNay art museum, Ruby City, San Antonio Art Museum.

Any other San Antonio hidden gems you’d be willing to share?

Off the beaten track is Carnitas Longja and head over to check out the SA River Foundation’s Confluence Park, the landbridge at Phil Hardberger park - feels like a walk on a hill country ranch, see a show at Stable Hall - it’s an intimate venue - so chic.

How would you style Sunshine Tienda for a day in San Antonio?

A hat will certainly be handy and the cool breezy dresses are just perfect for bopping around town and straight to dinner. You know they are just perfect with a pair of Fraulein shortie boots or medium or tall boots! Ha! It’s a match made in heaven.

And finally, tell us what makes you “Vacation Happy"?

Good book, laughter with friends, playing cards, outside time, a little retail therapy.
